If we call ourselves "little Christs," then why aren't we loving people...all people? I know I fail at it, too. I'm not trying to point fingers, but if we're supposed to be more like Christ...well, then we should be doing something other than sitting on our butts. Because after all, in the words of Relient K:
Jesus loved the outcasts. What does love look like, though? I'm not sure yet...I'm still trying to figure that out. But I'm getting a pretty good idea:
He loves the ones the world just loves to hate.
Giving food to the hungry.
Clothing the naked.
Giving water to the thirsty.
Visiting the sick.
Taking in strangers.
Caring for orphans and widows.
Taking time to chill with the homeless maybe.
And if that is love, and the church isn't doing that...then, well, it seems to me that love in America may be dead. And the COD (fancy acronym for Cause of Death) is apathy.
But wait, there's a chance for resuscitation. Love will come alive when the church goes from some dead organization to a living, breathing, bleeding organism made up of people, caring for people. That means the little Christs of America have to wake up, breathe deeply, and live out Christ's example.
Ready?
Go.
